Military Order of the Purple Heart Elects Patrick Little National Jr. Vice Commander
On August 11, 2012, Patrick Little of Delaware was elected as National Junior Vice Commander of the Military Order of the Purple Heart, a national veteran service organization with more than 44,000 members.
Patriot Patrick Little joined the Military Order of the Purple Heart in 1992, a life member of Delaware Chapter 9377. Pat server as a Chapter Commander (1996 -1998), and as the Department Commander of Delaware (2007 – 2010). The last two years he served as Region I Commander, before being elected to the National Leadership on August 11, 2012..
Patriot Little served in the US Army from 1968 – 1970, with a tour of duty with A Battery 1/30th Field Artillery assigned to the 1st Air Cavalry Division. Pat was wounded August 12, 1969 on LZ Becky, in the Tay Ninh Province, from devastating incoming that wiped out the three gun placement.
After his military service Pat had more than twenty-two year career with the DuPont Company. He started out in Sales and marketing, moving into Business Development, where he which started new Businesses for DuPont. As part of a joint venture between DuPont and N.V. Phillip’s Gloeilampenfabrieken in 1985, Little’s team developed the first CD ROM’s produced in the United States. Another business he started for DuPont was the use of thin film Polyester as a substrate for Thermal and Dye Sublimation film. Pat left DuPont in 1992 and formed a company that started up new businesses/companies based on innovative technologies. Companies from Japan and Germany have successfully started operations in the U.S. as a result of his consultative support. Pat assisted in the start up of yet2.com, an Internet company that is the global leader in the marketing of Intellectual Propriety. Pat is also the past President of Union Optical Company USA.
Patriot Little is past Finance Chairman and Treasurer of Goodwill Industries of Delaware and Delaware County. He has served on various boards at the request of the Governor of Delaware. He also serves on the Board of Directors of two international companies. In another military related role, he has served as the past President of the 30th Field Artillery Regiment Association. Patriot Little’s formal education includes a BS in Economics, from Pennsylvania Military College, now called Widener University., MBA courses from the University of Pennsylvania, and Advanced Management Certificate from Columbia University.
The organization now known as the "Military Order of the Purple Heart of the U.S.A. Inc.," (MOPH) was formed in 1932 for the protection and mutual interest of all combat wounded veterans and active duty men and women who have received the decoration. Chartered by the Congress, The MOPH is unique among Veteran Service Organizations in that all its members were wounded in combat. For this sacrifice, they were awarded the Purple Heart Medal. With grants from the MOPH Service Foundation, the MOPH and its Ladies Auxiliary promote Patriotism, Fraternalism, and the Preservation of America's military history. Most importantly, through veteran service, they provide comfort and assistance to all Veterans and their families, especially those requiring claims assistance with the VA, those who are homeless, and those requiring employment assistance. Through the VAVS program, MOPH volunteers selflessly provide assistance to hospitalized veterans at VA medical facilities and State Veterans Homes.
