National VAVS Director/Representative
Del “Bulldog” Turner, a life member of MOPH, has been National VAVS Director since 2000 and was elected to the National Finance Committee in 2005 as a four-year member. He joined the Order in 1990 when he was recruited by PNC Duane T. Brigstock, a member of local Chapter #110. Patriot Turner is still a member of his original chapter #110 where he serves as its Finance Officer. He also was a Department Commander for two years in Michigan. . . . . He was born in the small town of Jackson, Michigan and, shortly after graduating from high school, joined the United States Marine Corps in 1960. He went to Vietnam as a 23 year old Sergeant and was with the 2nd Battalion 5th Marines from September 1966 until January 1969, receiving two Purple Heart Awards during that period. Patriot Turner considers his tours in Vietnam as one of the highlights of his thirty year career in the Marine Corps. He had many challenging assignments over those years and the pleasure of working with a lot of great men and officers. . . . . . In addition to the two Purple Heart Medals, Patriot Turner also received the Joint Services Commendation Medal, Meritorious Service Medal, two Navy Commendation Medals with Combat V, Navy Achievement Medal, and numerous other awards and decorations . . . . . He’s once more married as of September 2007, after losing his wife of 26 years in 1995. He has two daughters and one son, who is an officer in the United States Army just returning from Iraq after a tour with 25th Infantry Division. Patriot Turner has been blessed with six grandchildren.
