Ken Swords was born in Atlanta, Georgia. He
joined the U.S. Marine Corps in October 1963. He served with the First Marine Division
in The Republic of Vietnam in 1966/67 attached with the First Battalion Fifth Marine
Regiment as a squad leader and acting platoon leader. He was wounded November 18,1966
and was awarded the Purple Heart in December 1966. He was honorably discharged on December 30, 1969. He is a Life member of the M.O.P.H. He serves the Order as the
National Deputy Sergeant-At- Arms and is a member of Chapter 758 Tallahassee, FL.
He is also a Life member of the VFW and DAV and is a member of the American Legion
and the Marine Corps League. He was retired by the United States Marine Corps
in 2000 as a result of his combat medical disability.
