
John Logan
was born in
Gadsden, Alabama
, in May 1946. He grew up in the military in an Air Force family. His Mother, being
a WWII English war bride, meant that his Father took overseas duty to
England
whenever possible. This meant constant moving and many school changes. Until High
School John spent only three semesters in American schools between Kindergarten
and ninth grade . . . . John was drafted into the US Army on May 4, 1966. He attended
Basic Training at
Fort Ord, California
, Armor AIT and Armor OCS at
Fort Knox, Kentucky
. John arrived in
Vietnam
on the
May 4, 1967
, after being paneled from OCS. He was wounded while clearing a
cave of VC
on August 22, 1967 and subsequently retired with disability in 1970 . . . . John
worked in many fields over the years, including carpentry, health care, Gang intervention
and school maintenance . . . .
For the past four years John has devoted his efforts toward assisting veterans through
his involvement with MOPH. He joined
MOPH in 2004 and is a Life Member, serving as Commander, Chapter 78 in Santa Rosa
CA and Senior Vice Commander and Adjutant
of the California Department as well as a National Officer . . . . John has been
married to Janis Someko Tanaka since April of 1967. They have two children, Jarrod
Tadao and Adrienne Mariko and one Grandchild, Aubrey Ayameko Elnora. The family
lives in
Santa Rosa, California
