Now, Click To Enlarge          Robert Linden, a Life Member in the MOPH Fresno Chapter  106, was appointed a member of the National Purple Heart Scholarship Committee in 2005 and was also elected to the three year position of Chairman, National Publications Committee in 2006. His past MOPH experience includes serving as Chapter and Department Commanders, Chapter and Department Adjutants, Chapter and Department Americanism Officers, and National Aide-de-Camp. His MOPH awards include two of the prestigious Carl. H. Blanchard Americanism Awards (2000 and 2005), Patriot of the Year (2006), and Outstanding Recruiter of the Year (1996-1997) . . . . He enlisted in the United States Air Force in 1956 where he served over 30 years and retired as Chief Maintenance Superintendent of Communications. While in the service, he obtained three Associate degrees, a BS in Occupational Education, with a Minor in Psychology, worked on his Masters degree, and completed the NCO and Senior NCO Academies. One of the highlights of his military career was when he worked on the first manned space flight out of Cape Canaveral FL in 1960-1961 . . . . In 1968, Patriot Linden was assigned to the 7th Air Force at Ton Son Nut (Saigon) where he was wounded during the Tet Offensive, hit by a 122-mm rocket fragment while defending the main gate area of the base . . . . His military decorations include the Bronze Star, Purple Heart, Meritorious Service Medal, Good Conduct Medal, Vietnam Service Medal, and Vietnam Cross of Gallantry . . . . After leaving the service in 1986, he worked for Merced County, CA, as a Staff Analyst and also returned to college to complete his Masters degree. He retired again in 2004 so that he could spend more time supporting MOPH and other veteran organizations including two County Veteran Councils . . . . Patriot Linden is a 4th Degree Knight in the Knights of Columbus and supports their various community projects. He’s also a member of the Atwater VFW Post 9946 and the Atwater/Merced DAV Chapter 31 . . . . He currently resides in Atwater CA with his wife, Hildegard, and enjoys visiting their four children and seven grand children.
