Patriot NewallPatriot Roger Newall, a MOPH Member since 2002 and assigned to Chapter 1966, Albuquerque, NM, served as Junior Vice Commander, Senior Vice Commander, Judge Advocate and Commander of his Chapter. Recently appointed as National ROTC Officer, he is also Department Commander of New Mexico, having been Adjutant, Junior Vice Commander, Senior Vice Commander, and New Mexico ROTC/JROTC Awards Coordinator.

Following High School graduation in 1963, Newton, MA, Roger attended Springfield College, MA. He left college in 1965 to enter the US Air Force, to begin with a career field of aircrew as an Aircraft Loadmaster. During his enlistment, he was stationed at Hill AFB, UT; Tan Son Nhut AB, VN; England, AFB, LA; and Westover AFB, MA (Active Reserves). During his tour in Vietnam 1967-1968 with the 19th Air Commando Squadron, he was wounded by shrapnel during an assault-landing at a Special Forces Camp as a crewman on a C-123K Transport. In addition to receiving the Purple Heart, during his tour Sgt. Newall was awarded the Distinguished Flying Cross and 7 Air Medals. After 3 ½ yrs. of active service, he returned to Springfield College and graduated with a Bachelors’ ’72 and Masters’ ’73 in Physical Education for Special Needs Children. At the same time, he served as a Loadmaster in the Air Force Reserves, leaving the USAF after graduation as a TSgt.

Following graduation Patriot Newall taught Phys Ed for 5 yrs. then being an avid skier began a 10 yr. period as a Professional Ski Patroller in VT, CO, & NM and had worked for over 20 yrs. as the Systems & Operational Specialist Manager for Pella Window & Doors in Albuquerque, NM. Currently Roger is the Veterans Affairs Liaison, Mayor's Office, City of Albuquerque, NM.

Roger married Martha Anne, his wife of over 40 yrs., shortly after returning from Vietnam and has 2 grown sons.
