Logsdon joined MOPH in 2005 and is now with Chapter 1922 in Indiana.
He’s held the Chapter positions of Adjutant, Senior Vice Commander and Commander
and the Department positions of Adjutant, Inspector, VAVS Representative, Junior
Vice Commander, Senior Vice Commander, and Commander. In 2006, Logsdon was
chosen as the MOPH Patriot of the Year . . . . His Army service began in 1969 at
Fort Knox followed by leadership and advanced infantry training at Fort Polk. He
went to Fort Benning for NCO school and back to Fort Polk for OJT . . . .
Patriot Logsdon arrived in Vietnam in May 1970 and was sent to Charlie Company,
5/60 9th Infantry Division at Binh Phuoc, just in time for the Cambodian
incursion.
After that, it was just
day to day routine operations until August when the 9th Division prepared to go
home. He was sent to Cu Chi for a 10 day operation in the HoBo Woods; on the
fifth day of the operation August 13, he stepped on a command detonated 155mm
round, putting him into an evacuation hospital and later to Japan. After three
weeks in Japan, he spent nine months at Valley Forge Army Hospital before going
home in May 1971. . . . After the Army, Patriot Logsdon worked as a draftsman
for Fairfield Manufacturing in Lafayette, a leading provider of engineered gear
and transmission systems founded in 1919. . . . He is currently not married, but
has two daughters, Kris and Jamie, five grandkids and one great grandchild. |
