National Historian

James J. Klug, member of MOPH since 2007, is presently the National Historian. He’s with Chapter 0147 Oregon and has served as Americanism Officer, Chaplain, and Historian in the Chapter and as Alternate Committeeman, Historian and Commander in his Department. Patriot Klug served in the US Army as an infantryman during 1967 and 1968 and was wounded in November 1967 on Hill 875 near the Dak To fire support base while assigned to the 4th Infantry Division. Elements of the 4th Infantry and 173rd Airborne Brigade were tasked to take Hill 875 that was occupied by dug in North Vietnamese troops and some of the war’s fiercest fighting resulted (115 US soldiers were killed, 273 wounded, and 7 went missing). He lives with his wife, Stephanie, in Ashland, Oregon.
