Ransom Jordan, Jr. is a Life
Member of MOPH, having joined in 1992, and belongs to Chapter 2222 in the Department
of Maryland. He also belongs to the Disabled Veterans of America, the Veterans of
Foreign Wars, and the American Legion. . . . He joined the United States Army in
1952, retiring in 1974 after, as he stated, “22 years, seven days, and four hours.”
His tours of duty included Germany and Vietnam, where he was wounded during his
1968-1969 assignment. He was involved in action around Dau Tieng and Cu-Chi, both
located northwest of Saigon. Dau Tieng Base Camp was a major staging area for US
thrusts deep into War Zone C and was repeatedly
attacked
by the enemy. And Cu-Chi was famous for its immense network of tunnels, over 150
miles with three levels that housed and supported enemy troops including some of
those who fought in the 1968 Tet Offensive. . . . Patriot Jordan’s awards include
the Purple Heart, National Defense Service Medal with Oak Leaf Cluster, Bronze Star
with device and one Oak Leaf Cluster, Vietnam Service Medal with star, Republic
of Vietnam Campaign Medal, and the Good Conduct Medal. . . . After retiring from
the Army, he worked at the Government Printing Office, Washington DC, for nineteen
years and then four more years at the Forestville Shopping Mall. . . . He’s active
in number of volunteer efforts to support veterans that include the Walter Reed
Medical Center in Washington, DC, the Martinsburg Medical Center in West Virginia,
the National Naval Medical Center, Bethesda, MD, and in the VA Capitol Health Care
Network (VISN #5). . . . Patriot Jordan is married to Emorrris Ernestine Cook-Jordan.
