Arthur Bishop
served as Chapter Adjutant, Chapter Commander, Department Adjutant, Department Chief
of Staff, Chair, Department Finance Committee, and National Executive Committeeman
since he joined MOPH in 2001. . . . He entered the Army in 1944 and was assigned
to the 106th Infantry Division during the Battle of the Bulge. He was a POW and
was wounded. . . . . After the war, he completed college with a BS in Electrical
Engineering.
He was given a direct commission in the Air Force, and served until
retirement. During that time, he received a Master of Science degree in Electrical
Engineering. . . . . At retirement, he was Director of the Vela Satellite program,
a nuclear detonation detection system. . . . . In addition to two Purple Hearts,
he holds the Bronze Star Medal, Meritorious Service Medal, and Air Force Commendation
Medals. . . . . After military service, he joined Aerojet, an aerospace company,
and became Vice President and Director of the Defense Support Program, the only
U.S. satellite based system to detect missile launches. . . . Art and his wife Ellen
live in Sacramento, CA, have three grown children and seven grandchildren. |
