Hershel W. Gober is the
National Legislative Director for the Military Order of the Purple Heart since 2002.
He was the Deputy and Acting Secretary of the US Department of Veterans Affairs
from 1993 -2001, Arkansas Director of Veterans Affairs from 1998 – 1993, Arkansas
Department Adjutant of The American Legion from 1985 – 1998, JROTC Senior Instructor
from 1983 – 1985, and Director of Northwest Alaska Pipeline from 1978 – 1983.
He joined the USMC from 1956 – 1959 and served in the US Army from 1961 – 1978 with
two tours in Vietnam. He received the PH medal for action in 1969, and retired
with rank of Major.
